LGBTQI

Definition
LGBTQI stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex. Although UNESCO’s documents commonly employ the terms LGBTQI, LGBT, and LGBTI, it is of utmost importance to acknowledge the existence of other evolving acronyms, such as LGBTQIA+. The latter stands for ‘Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual and many other terms (such as non-binary and pansexual) that people use to describe their experiences of their gender, sexuality, and physiological sex characteristics’ (La Trobe University, 2019).
