‘A hetero-normative viewpoint is one that expresses heterosexuality as a given instead of being one of many possibilities.’ (GLSEN, 2016: 4). The Merriam-Webster dictionary also defines heteronormative as ‘of, relating to, or based on the attitude that heterosexuality is the only normal and natural expression of sexuality’ (Merriam-Webster, 2021).
