Community-Driven Development (CDD)

Definition
Term employed to ‘characterize investment programmes that support decentralization. CDD programmes aim to set up appropriate accountability mechanisms within a decentralized environment and strengthen community choice and empowerment in implementing small-scale infrastructure programmes’ (Theunynck, 2009: 111).
